¡Hola, estudiantes del octavo grado!
I am excited to work with you this year as you continue to learn about the Spanish language and culture. You will find that this year is a bit more challenging than last year with regards to grammar but you are well prepared to tackle it!
This year we will cover the second half of the textbook, Realidades. You can find a link to the text's on-line resources here: http://www.phschool.com/webcodes10/index.cfm?wcprefix=jck&wcsuffix=0001&area=view
You can find a link to our assignments and assessments here, on the 8th grade calendar: http://www.wlschools.org/page.cfm?p=954
And you can look at our Classroom Resources page for links to dictionaries, games, and videos we watch in class.
This year you will have more open ended questions to show your learning. Grammatically we will continue to practice regular -ar, -er & -ir verbs as well as stem-changing (boot) verbs and irregular vers. You will also learn commands, how to use the present progressive tense (we are going -now) and the preterite tense (completed past tense - as opposed to the on-going past tense).
You will explore new topics and cultural perspectives on: family, family celebrations, the home and rooms in the house, clothing, fashion and shopping, gift giving, vacations, volunteer work, the entertainment world and using technology. You will make comparisons between your own perspectives, classmates' and those of teens from Spanish speaking cultures.
