Dear Mount Greylock Families,
With Thanksgiving upon us, a reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, 11/21 is a half day with an 11:10 am dismissal. This dismissal is always a bit earlier than others to accommodate the early dismissals at our elementary schools. There will be no after-school late buses on Wednesday.
This is also a good time to remind families that bus routes and the number of buses deployed are determined by the locations of Mount Greylock students’ residences. Occasionally, we use regular 2:30 bus routes to transport students to co-curricular events off site (like Shakespeare Tech Week to WES or tennis players to the Williams courts). That increases temporary ridership on some buses. And then there are the occasional times when a student is going to a friend’s house and may need to take a different bus.
Lately, there has been an increase in the number of 2:30 riders to Spring Street in Williamstown, and the bus is nearing or surpassing capacity. It is quite possible that as student who plans to go to Spring Street on the W6 may find himself either 1) needing to find another bus that has a similar route from which he walk (W5, W3 or W7 stop relatively near the W6 bus’s Spring Street stop) or 2) without bus transportation. Students who are assigned to a bus will always have priority, so it is possible that without careful planning, a student who isn’t taking his assigned bus might find himself without a ride to his intended destination.
Please speak to your children about this and the need for planning. Thank you.
Best wishes for a happy and restful Thanksgiving.
