Dear Mount Greylock Faculty and Staff,
Thank you for your patience throughout the Mount Greylock Building Project. It was formally launched two years ago, but as many know, it has been pursued for more than a decade by dedicated and passionate members of our wide community. The new building as well as the renovated portions reflect the ideas and aspirations of the community, and the design will inspire teaching and learning well into the future.
Bringing the new building to the community has had its challenges, and students, staff and families have had to manage delays and alterations to original expectations.
As part of the process of opening the new building to the public while we are still under construction, Mount Greylock must obtain a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO). A TCO is granted after many inspections of all aspects of the building -- its construction, furnishings, equipment and grounds. Today's inspection indicated that there remain tasks to complete before the TCO can be issued, and a new inspection has been set for next week.
Our community has been anticipating an opening next week, along with tours for new and current students alike. These tours will be delayed until the TCO is procured; at that point, we will be able to share a schedule of daytime and evening tours with you.
The Athletic Director and coaches will be in communication regarding locations of practices scheduled for next week, and they will convey any changes to student athletes and families.
As news develops, Mount Greylock will be in touch with you.
