Posted 08/14/2018 11:49AM

Dear Mount Greylock Families,

An early welcome back for those returning to Mount Greylock this fall, and a welcome for those joining Mount Greylock for the first time! You will soon begin receiving important information and documents for the coming school year. This message is to ensure you are also aware of the interscholastic athletic opportunities offered through Mount Greylock, especially as the fall athletic season is quickly approaching. Later this month you will be receiving information about other afterschool programs at Mount Greylock including three student performances, two language clubs and other various after school organizations and leadership opportunities. The Mount Greylock co-curricular program is an integral part of the total educational process. Through participation in co-curricular opportunities, students can have experiences and training in events not ordinarily obtainable in the general curriculum. We hope that all students become involved in an after school program and urge each student to choose programs they will have the time and energy to be an active member of.

This fall, eight different athletic opportunities will be offered at Mount Greylock.

  • Cross Country (Boys & Girls), Available to students in grades 7 - 12
  • Football, Available to students in grades 8 - 12
  • Golf, Available to students in grades 7 - 12*

This is a combined MIAA and Special Olympics initiative designed to provide a competitive sports program for students with and without intellectual disabilities. A meeting with additional information will occur in mid-September, practices will begin in early October.

*Team selections will be determined after a tryout period in the sports of golf, soccer and volleyball.
Middle School students may be asked to try again the following year if high school participation is high.

The fall athletic season begins prior to the start of classes and pre-registration as well as attendance at a mandatory preseason meeting is required.

Cross Country, Golf, Soccer, and Volleyball (Meeting: Aug 20th or 21st @ 6pm, Practice: Aug 23rd)

Please ensure that any student interested in participating has completed the online registration and that a copy of a recent physical exam is on file with the school nurse.
Students new to Mount Greylock must be completely enrolled with the Guidance Office prior to any athletic participation.
Registration must be completed by 8pm the evening prior to the start of a practice or tryout to ensure student will be eligible to participate.
Students that register after 8pm the evening prior will not be cleared in time to participate and students that do not register will not be able to participate.
