Dear Mount Greylock Families,
June is almost upon us, and I wanted to send a reminder about end-of-year schedules and expectations.
Students in grades 9 - 11 take final exams in core academic subjects. The only exception made is for students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses. The English exam caps off Wednesday, 6/20, and the other exams are scheduled for the following half days. Monday, 6/25 is reserved for make-up exams, and students who have completed their exams and turned in books and supplies are not required to attend. Each exam period is 90 minutes; a 25-minute break separates each period. Students who do not have an exam in a particular slot (say a student who is not taking a language or took an AP exam) will be assigned to a room to study quietly, or if the student has an independent means of transportation, the student can depart early or arrive late.
Exam Schedule Snapshot
Wednesday 6/20 -- English (Full day - 2:25 departure)
Thursday 6/21 -- Science & Math (Half day - 11:10 departure)
Friday 6/22 -- Social Studies & World Languages (Half day - 11:10 departure)
Monday 6/25 -- Make-up Exams for all disciplines (Half day - 11:10 departure)
Students should return textbooks and supplies as well as library books and athletic team uniforms prior to departing school for the summer. It's imperative that students take home musical instruments, class projects, artwork and valuables from their lockers as well. Mount Greylock will not hold musical instruments over the summer with the big move. Please encourage your child to check out the Lost & Found, now conveniently arranged on a rack in the cafeteria. It is packed with jackets, athletic gear and shoes; items not collected by June 19 will be donated to the Goodwill.
As the school will be in transition this summer as we prepare to move to the new building, I will send a letter out with summer contact information later in June. Those details will be posted to the website as well. Please understand that over the summer, email will be our primary mode of communication to families and students. Please take a moment to see that your (and your child's) email addresses are correctly input on PowerSchool. If you have questions about PowerSchool, please contact the Main Office at 413-458-9582.
Happy (almost) June!
Mary MacDonald, Principal
