Winter Athletics

Please register for winter sports soon to ensure that students are able to participate on the first day, Monday, November 27th. Students that wait until last minute to register may not be able to participate due to the time needed to verify information. Registrations received on Monday November 27th will not be approved in time for a student to participate on the first day of practice. Missing this day for those sports with team try-outs could negatively affect a student’s chances of being selected for a team. Fees are due by Friday, December 8th unless a team has a contest or scrimmage prior to that date, then the participation fee will be due prior to that event. Students need to ensure the school has an updated physical prior to beginning the season as well.

The Parent/Athlete Meeting will be on November 15th at 6pm in the school cafeteria. All students interested in participating in a winter sport must attend with a parent unless they attended the meeting this past fall.

Students involved in the school Shakespeare Program recently performed “Much Ado About Nothing” at Williamstown Elementary School. If you missed it, there is still an opportunity to catch the show. Students will be performing as part of The Fall Festival of Shakespeare at Tina Packer Playhouse this Friday, April 17th at 8:30pm. Single show tickets or festival passes are available online.

Auditions for the School Musical will begin on Monday, December 11th in the School Cafeteria. Contact Director, Jeff Welch with specific questions.

Fall Athletic Recap

Both Cross Country Teams will compete in the Western Mass Championships tomorrowSaturday November 11th at Northfield Mountain. The Girls DII Race begins at 1:00 and the Boys DII Race will begin at 2:10. Come out and cheer on the runners as both teams have a good chance of qualifying for the State Championship Race.

The Mount Greylock Football team was one of the four D8 schools to qualify for the Western Mass Tournament.  The team had a very successful (6-2) regular season, but unfortunately faced a very tough Hoosac Valley Team in the Semi-Finals. The team has their final non-playoff game this evening at 5pm vs. Taconic High School.

After a successful regular season, the Golf Team placed 5th in the DII Western Mass Championships. Ben Gilooly placed 5th in individual competition and competed in the State Championships.

The Boys Soccer Team was Western Mass Semi-Finalists. Finishing their regular season 10-4-2, MG proceeded to the Semi-Finals with a 3-1 win over Pope Francis. The boys played a great game Wednesday night, but unfortunately lost to #1 Belchertown in a close 3-2 game.

The Volleyball Team was also Western Mass Semi-Finalists this season. Their first tournament game ended with a 3-0 win over Mahar in which the girls played incredibly well. Unfortunately, while they fought hard, the team could not overcome the #1 seeded Frontier Team to advance to finals.

The Girls Soccer Team also qualified for the Western Mass Tournament with an impressive 9-6-2 regular season earning a home game. The season was full of many close games with tough competitors. The team finished with a tough 4-2 loss in tournament against Frontier.
