A Message from the Principal

Dear Mount Greylock Families,

Week Two is upon us.  After three days of orientation for the 7th graders, they are getting more comfortable navigating the school.  The Peer Team will welcome new students in grades 8-12 on Monday with a breakfast and various activities. College representatives are meeting with students in the Guidance Office, and the annual Club Fair is under development for later in September.  Athletes are on the fields, trails, courts and pitches, and directors from Shakespeare and Co. will start auditions for the Fall Festival of Shakespeare at the end of the month. It's September -- and it's busy!

Learn more about your child's academic day by attending Open House set for this Wednesday, September 11 starting at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium.  The evening will last until about 9:00. As always, we encourage families to carpool.

1:1 Hybrid Chromebook Program

Mount Greylock provides Chromebooks to students in grades 8-12 to use in school and at home.  While some students and families prefer to use their own laptops, many students take advantage of this program.

Distribution in the Library Media Center for students in grades 8 - 12 will begin this week during the following times:

  • Wednesday, September 11, 4:00 - 6:30 & 7:15 - 8:30

  • Thursday, September 12, 4:00 - 6:00

  • Friday, September 13, 2:30 - 5:00

Please review the linked documents to learn more about the program. If you can print and complete the linked registration form, that will speed up the distribution process. Only parents and guardians can pick up a Chromebook, and they must have a picture ID with them.

Canvas - Learning Management System

A variety of teachers use Canvas as a way to organize, instruct and assess to support the work that goes on in their classrooms.  Parents can view course Canvas accounts using the instructions provided here.

The School Council needs a third parent/guardian representative.  Interested candidates are asked to submit their names, contact information and a very brief statement of their interest  and qualifications to MGPTO President Valerie Hall vlphall@yahoo.com by Monday, September 9 at 7:00 PM. Names and statements will be shared with parents and guardians.  Voting will take place during the Open House and by digital ballot until Friday, September 13. School Council by-laws will provide details about representatives’ and the Council’s responsibilities.

Looking forward to seeing you at Open House.

Kind regards,

Mary MacDonald & Jake Schutz
