Food Assistance Programs
Posted 01/10/2020 10:49AM

Food security is a problem across Berkshire County.  Students who do not have nutritious meals can face many challenges, including struggles at school.  If you need support or know of a family who does, please consider contacting resources such as WIC or Project Bread.

About Project Bread

Project Bread takes a fresh approach to ending hunger. We believe that the opposite of hungry isn't simply full — it's healthy. And because there's no single face of hunger, we develop multiple solutions that meet people where they are — solutions that provide people of all ages and walks of life with sustainable, reliable access to nutritious food.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.

Links to these services can always be found in our MG Resources section under Important Documents in the Food Assistance Programs folder.
