Dear Mount Greylock Families,
Two days into the school year, and we’ve had a good start.
On Wednesday, September 11 during Mount Greylock’s Open House, you will have a chance to see the new building and experience a simulation of your child’s school day. We will start at 7:00 pm in the auditorium with introductions and news. Directly afterwards, you can follow your child’s schedule to gain of sense of the day with ten-minute classes. The night moves quickly to enable all seven periods, so there will not be time to have individual conversations with your child’s teachers; if need be, consider arranging a meeting on a future date. The evening will end near 9:00. Open House is designed for parents and guardians; students and younger siblings are encouraged to stay home. We don’t offer childcare on that evening.
Members of school and community groups who would like to set up an informational table that evening should contact Nancy McMullen email@example.com in the Main Office.
Mount Greylock’s 1:1 Hybrid Chromebook program will relaunch on September 11 as well. Parents and guardians of students in 8th grade as well as new students in grades 9-12 can exchange completed registration documents for a Chromebook. This year, Chromebooks will come with a protective cover. Details about the program and registration forms and information on insurance will be emailed over the next few days. Chromebook pick up dates and times are:
- Wednesday, September 11, 4:00 - 6:30 & 7:15 - 8:30
- Thursday, September 12, 4:00 - 6:00
- Friday, September 13, 2:30 - 5:00
The School Council needs a new parent/guardian representative. Interested candidates are asked to submit their names, contact information and a very brief statement of their interest and qualifications to MGPTO President Valerie Hall firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, September 9 at 7:00 pm. Names and statements will be shared with parents and guardians. Voting will take place during the Open House and by digital ballot until Friday, September 13. School Council by-laws will provide details about representatives’ and the Council’s responsibilities.
We are looking forward to seeing parents and guardians on Wednesday.
