The purpose of this parent session will be an examination of oppositional/defiant behavior and emotional disabilities in children during adolescence. This is a pivotal time in development and it often results in co-morbid diagnoses including depression and anxiety.
Universal and targeted interventions with a multi-disciplinary approach are often most helpful in treating such disorders. An overview of common internalizing and externalizing behaviors will be reviewed as well as various treatment options. Risk factors, the role of peer groups and substance abuse will also be covered.
