Dear MG Families,
A few hours ago we received notice that a second MG student tested positive for COVID-19. This incident is separate from the initial case I reported to you yesterday.
Again, we cannot provide specific information about the student who tested positive, but know that they are following all Department of Health protocols, including collaborating with our local board of health to complete contact tracing. There were no close contacts per state and federal guidelines, due to the physical layout and structure of our school day. Moving beyond those guidelines, we did identify four students as closest to the affected student. Those students have been notified and are taking appropriate next steps (quarantining and testing) to maintain safety. No staff members were identified as being close contacts per our internal review that extended beyond state and federal guidance.
Out of an abundance of caution, MG will transition to remote learning for all students between the 2nd and 9th of December. This short hiatus of in-person learning provides time and space for us to validate our current safety practices and procedures and further improve our confidence that there was no transmission within the building. This vigilance, in addition to adhering to all of the protocols, will help guide decision making in regards to teaching and learning as we move forward.
We ask that all families continue to complete the health screener daily to provide most accurate and current health information. Students who order lunch can continue to do so on the daily health screener as well. Ordered lunches will be available at your respective town’s elementary school daily between 10 and 1130. There will be no in-person clubs, activities, or athletics during this time frame.
We are grateful to our staff and families for their continued efforts to keep us all safe while providing an excellent education to our children.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact me, Colin, or Nikki.
Sincerely,
Jacob Schutz - Principal
Colin Shebar – Assistant Principal
