Good Morning MG Families,
I hope you and your families are healthy and happy.
Things are starting to move forward with our reopening plans. Currently the pace is methodical and measured. It may seem like nothing is happening, but conversations have been many and the planning robust. Soon decisions will start being made and then plans will be put into action. I anticipate the tempo will steadily increase to the point that it may seem rushed if you were uninformed of the process. To that point, I want to bring everyone "into the know" now so we can ask the right questions, advocate for with one voice, and make our goals and messages clear.
These efforts include district wide working groups for Wellness, Instruction, Technology, Governance, Extra-Curricular, and Facilities. Parents, students, and community members (along with all levels of district staff) make-up the membership of these groups. We've also started concurrent planning at the building level. This building based leadership team is comprised of Curriculum Leaders, Team Leaders, Logistics Team, Guidance Team, Union reps, and School Council and PTO reps.
You are all invited to join me for Virtual Coffee/Tea via zoom starting next Saturday (25th) at 9 and recurring every Saturday at 9 (at least until Sep 5th). In a relaxed environment I'll provide updates, field questions, or relay concerns to the various building or district based planning groups. I encourage you attend at least the first meeting (next Saturday the 25th). In addition to these gatherings, please feel free to share questions, concerns, or suggestions directly to me via email or phone. Please check your email (Subject: "Meeting Invitation", dated July 16) for the zoom link that will be used for these meetings.
We are still in the hiring process for multiple positions. Many of the positions already filled are still at various levels of transition so I'm going to hold off for another week or so in hopes to announce our new hires as a cohort. I'm not sure I can wait to introduce the new Assistant Principal, Colin Shebar. He's a former middle school Social Studies teacher in Franklin, MA and resident of Plainville, MA. He's certainly hit the ground running (already participating in School Committee meetings, interview committees, and reopening groups) and is poised to keep moving forward. I'm very excited to have Colin join our team and I think you will too. There's much more I could share and will when the time is right. Please welcome Colin.
As educators we take our profession seriously. As stewards of that profession, we consider a safe and healthy environment paramount for effective teaching and learning.
I'm not sure what September will bring nor what it'll look like. I am certain, however, that together we will persevere.
Take care of yourselves,
Jacob N. Schutz
