A message from the Principals: Year-End Wrap-Up
Posted 06/20/2017 10:25AM

Dear Mt. Greylock Families,

Some final news as we wrap up the year…

High School exams begin on Wednesday afternoon.  Dismissal for all grades will be at 2:25.

On Thursday, Friday and Monday, school is dismissed at 11:00 with buses departing by 11:10.  No lunch is served.

The last after-school buses are scheduled for Tuesday, June 20; they will depart to Lanesborough and Williamstown at 4:15.   No late buses will run on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Monday.

Please encourage your children to return texts to their teachers, library books to the librarians, and uniforms to coaches.  It always helps if students do a quick search of rooms where they study at home and their bedrooms to discover mislaid books and school items.

Over the summer, the Main Office will be open Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  However, it will be closed the week of July 3rd for cleaning and floor waxing.

Construction on the building project will accelerate as soon as the school year ends.  With safety in mind, Mt. Greylock discourages people from using the facilities and grounds this summer except for pre-arranged programs and official business.   If you are looking to come to the campus to meet with a staff member, it’s advisable to call the Main Office first at 413-458-9582.

If you have not read the email newsletter sent each Friday, know that there are two summer programs for our students developed by Williams College students.  One is a Spanish program called ¡Hola Verano! targeted to students entering Spanish 3,4,5 and AP.  The other is a sociology class that looks at social media used by politicians; this class is open to students going into grades 8, 9 and 10.  Details for both programs can be found at the website, www.mgrhs.org in the news feed.

At present, administration and school counselors are designing the schedule based on students’ course requests.  This year’s schedule is slightly more complicated as it has to be implemented in two different buildings – our current building and the new structure scheduled to open in late April 2018.

We expect to send student schedules out in early August along with a packet of various forms to be completed and returned to school on the first day, September 5th.  Separately, families and students will receive emails with digital copies of informational fliers and announcements around the same time.  We encourage you to check the website www.mgrhs.org and our twitter feeds @MGMounties and @AthleticsMG for news as well.

Our best – advance – wishes for a restful and rejuvenating summer.

Sincerely,

Mary MacDonald & Jake Schutz
